The FleetMaster connects to Garmin units via a special interface. Actual On-line tracking and mapping services are provided separately by Beacon Wireless Solutions, and are arranged by the customer. Additional service fees apply.

What does it cost?

The components of the Garmin/Fleetmaster System are:

  - Garmin Navigation Device (compatible units shown above)
  - FleetMaster Kit (included items listed below)
  - FleetMaster to  GPS interface cable

In addition, the following are required:
  - Tracking service activation fee (one time fee $25)
  - FleetMaster Dataset & Mapping on-line tracking service
  - FleetMaster/Garmin interface fee ($4.99/month each)
  - Wireless service from T-Mobile (monthly fee, $10 each)
The ongoing fees total averages only $39.99 per month (though most fees are upfront).

Actual On-line tracking and mapping services are provided separately by Beacon Wireless Solutions, and are arranged by the customer. Beacon Wireless will also assist the customer in setting up the T-Mobile wireless service.

So your costs are:

  -  Garmin unit (approx. $400 - $1000)
  -  FleetMaster Kit ($599) and Interface cable ($50)
  -  Wireless and service fees ($39.99/mo) + activation fee ($25)

If you don't need the navigation and messaging capabilities of the combined Garmin/Fleetmaster System, you can still add the FleetMaster Kit by itself, and still get the other on-line tracking services.

REMEMBER: FleetMaster can be tracked via the Internet from anywhere, so no special base station or server is needed.

What happens if the vehicle loses wireless coverage?

The FleetMaster is designed to continue to log the location data and events even when the vehicle is passing through an area with no or poor coverage.  When the vehicle re-enters the service area, the outstanding messages are then resent to the servers and displayed.
