Pinpoint Your Position

With its high-sensitivity GPS receiver, the Rino 520HCx and 530HCx locate your position quickly and precisely and maintain their GPS location even in heavy cover and deep canyons. The advantage is clear — whether you’re in deep woods or just near tall buildings and trees, you can count on Rino Rino 520HCx and 530HCx to help you find your way when you need it the most.

Find Your Friends

Like the rest of the Rino series, these Rino's offers a unique Position Reporting feature. Position Reporting lets you send your exact location to other Rino users in your group so that everyone can see your position on the map page. And, because Rino is a standard FRS/GMRS radio, you can use it to communicate with any other conventional FRS/GMRS radio around.

Transmit with Power

The Rino 520HCx and 530HCx boast a whopping 5 watts of transmit power (GMRS), which lets you contact others from up to 14 miles away (line of sight). In Canada, you can transmit at 2 watts over GMRS with a range of up to 8 miles.

Other Rino 520HCx and 530HCx features:

• Electronic compass tells you what direction you’re headed, even when you're standing still.

• Bold color TFT display makes it easy to see and navigate to family or friends at an amusement park, lake or other outdoor group activity.

• microSD card slot accepts preloaded MapSource® data cards with detailed maps.

• Automatic routing and turn-by-turn directions with alert tones let you find an address or point of interest and drive there (with optional MapSource map data).

• Rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to 14 hours of outdoor use.

Additional features added to the RINO 530HCx include:

• Barometric altimeter provides extremely accurate elevation for hikers and climbers

• Electronic compass so you can get a heading when standing still

• NOAA weather capability to keep you informed of changes in weather

The Rino 520HCx and 530HCx  come with a built-in detailed basemap of North and South America. When combined with Garmin’s optional CityNavigator software, it provides automatic route generation, off-route recalculation, turn-by-turn directions with alert tones, and icon-driven menus for finding points of interest. Customize map data for your adventures on land or sea with Garmin’s entire line of optional outdoor cartography 

What really separates the Rino from the rest of the FRS/GMRS herd is the ability to "beam" your exact location to another Rino user within a twelve-mile range (GMRS). This is called Peer-to-Peer Positioning (see below for additional information).

The Rino family boasts GARMIN’s traditional tough, lightweight, waterproof design to handle the rigors of any outdoor adventure. And because the Rino has standard FRS capabilities, you can talk to friends or family who own conventional FRS radios.

Peer-to-Peer Positioning

This patent-pending technology makes it possible to transmit your location to a friend or family member, and they can see the distance and bearing from your position to theirs on a RINO display. In short, this could be a life-saving feature in an outdoor emergency by helping rescuers pinpoint your location—or it could be used simply for rounding up the family at an amusement park. Now available for up to 14-mile GMRS range!
